Yes, the basic features of Rugby Network are free for both players and teams.
How do I create an account?

Can I be both a player and a team owner?
Yes! Your account can have multiple roles. You can manage your player profile and availability while also managing one or more teams.
Player Questions
How do I get matched with a team?
The matching process works like this:
- You add your positions (what you can play)
- You declare your availability (when you can play)
- Teams browse available players
- When a team finds you suitable, they create a commitment
- You'll see the commitment in your dashboard
What if I can play multiple positions?
Great! Add all positions you're comfortable playing. You can mark one as your primary position. Having multiple positions increases your chances of finding opportunities.
Can I cancel a commitment?
Commitments are created by team owners. If you need to cancel, contact the team directly. The team owner can cancel the commitment in the system.
What happens if I have a scheduling conflict?
The system automatically prevents scheduling conflicts. You cannot be committed to two events at the same time. If a conflict would occur, the commitment creation will fail.
How do I update my availability?
- Go to Availability in the navigation menu
- Click Add Availability for new time slots
- Click Edit or Delete on existing slots to modify them
Team Owner Questions
How do I find players for my team?
- Post a need specifying the position and time you need filled
- Browse available players filtered by position and availability
- Create a commitment with a suitable player
- The player will see the commitment in their dashboard
What's the difference between Events and Needs?
- Events: Matches, training sessions, or tournaments your team is participating in
- Needs: Specific player positions you need filled for events or general time periods
Events are optional but help provide context for your needs.
Can I have multiple team owners?
Yes, teams can have primary and secondary owners. The primary owner has full control, while secondary owners can manage events, needs, and commitments.
How do I mark a position as filled?
- Go to your team's Needs
- Find the need
- Click Edit
- Change the status to Filled
- Click Save
What if a player doesn't show up?
Contact the player directly. You can cancel their commitment and find a replacement player. Consider this when deciding on commitments in the future.
Technical Questions
I forgot my password
Click Login, then use the "Forgot Password" option on the login page. You'll receive instructions to reset your password.
I'm not receiving emails
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Add our email addresses to your contacts
- Verify your email address is correct in your profile

Troubleshooting
"Conflict Error" when creating a commitment
This means the player already has another commitment during that time period. The system prevents double-booking to ensure reliability.
Can't see any players when browsing
- Check your filters (try clearing them)
- Players need to have availability added to appear in searches
- Try broadening your search criteria
Need status not updating
- Ensure you're the team owner
- Refresh the page after saving
- Try logging out and back in
Page shows "Server Error"
This is a temporary issue. Try:
- Refreshing the page
- Waiting a few minutes
- If it persists, contact support
