This guide provides step-by-step instructions for common player tasks on Rugby Network.

Profile Management

Update Your Profile

  1. Navigate to Profile in the main menu
  2. Click Edit Profile
  3. Update your details:
    • Name
    • Bio
  4. Click Save

Add a Position

  1. Go to Profile > Manage Positions
  2. Click Add Position
  3. Select a position from the dropdown
  4. If this is your main position, check Primary Position
  5. Click Save

Remove a Position

  1. Go to Profile > Manage Positions
  2. Find the position you want to remove
  3. Click the Delete button next to it
  4. Confirm the deletion

Change Your Primary Position

  1. Go to Profile > Manage Positions
  2. Find your new primary position
  3. Click Edit and check Primary Position
  4. The previous primary will be demoted to secondary
  5. Click Save

Availability Management

Add Availability

  1. Navigate to Availability in the main menu
  2. Click Add Availability
  3. Set the Start Time (date and time)
  4. Set the End Time (date and time)
  5. Optionally select a preferred Position
  6. Add any Notes (e.g., "Available for training only")
  7. Click Save

Remove Availability

  1. Go to Availability
  2. Find the availability slot to remove
  3. Click Delete
  4. Confirm the deletion

Update Availability

  1. Go to Availability
  2. Find the slot to update
  3. Click Edit
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click Save

Finding Opportunities

Browse Open Needs

  1. Navigate to Browse Needs in the main menu
  2. View all open team needs
  3. Use filters:
    • Position: Filter by your positions
    • Date Range: Filter by when you're available
  4. Click on a need to see full details

View Need Details

The need details page shows:

  • Team: Which team needs the player
  • Position: What position is needed
  • Event: Associated event (if any)
  • Time: When the player is needed
  • Notes: Additional requirements
  • Status: Open, Filled, or Cancelled

Managing Commitments

View Your Commitments

  1. Navigate to My Commitments in the main menu
  2. View all your upcoming commitments
  3. Each commitment shows:
    • Team name
    • Event name
    • Position
    • Date and time
    • Status

Understanding Commitment Status

  • Accepted: You're confirmed for this event
  • Cancelled: This commitment has been cancelled

What Happens When You Have a Conflict

The system prevents double-booking:

  • You cannot have two commitments at the same time
  • If there's a conflict, the team will see an error
  • Check your commitments before confirming availability

Using the Dashboard

Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard shows:

  • Profile Summary: Quick view of your profile
  • Upcoming Commitments: Your next scheduled events
  • Recent Activity: Latest updates

Quick Actions from Dashboard

  • View your full profile
  • Add new availability
  • Browse open needs
  • See all commitments

Tips and Best Practices

Being a Great Player

  1. Keep your availability updated

    • Add new slots when your schedule allows
    • Remove slots when you're no longer available
  2. Be responsive

    • Check the platform regularly
    • Respond promptly to team communications
  3. Be reliable

    • Honor your commitments
    • Communicate early if issues arise
  4. Complete your profile

    • Add all positions you can play
    • Include experience in your bio

Maximizing Opportunities

  1. Add multiple positions - More positions mean more potential matches
  2. Extend your availability - Flexible schedules attract more teams
  3. Update regularly - Active profiles are more visible
  4. Be specific - Detailed availability helps teams find you

Troubleshooting

Can't See Any Needs

  • Check your filters - try clearing them
  • Ensure you're logged in
  • There may be no open needs at this time

Availability Not Showing

  • Make sure the time slot hasn't passed
  • Verify the dates were saved correctly
  • Try refreshing the page

Commitment Conflict Error

This means you already have a commitment during that time:

  • Check My Commitments for existing bookings
  • One of the conflicting commitments may need to be cancelled
